Jahrhunderts durch den Bau einer Festung nach dem Vorbild von Ouessant und Belle-Île vollständig umgestaltet. Das Gelände wurde entmilitarisiert und ging Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts in Privatbesitz über. Unter den Zerstörungen der Besatzungsmächte am Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs leidend, wurde das Fort teilweise wieder aufgebaut.
